Callie O’Connell is a 25-year-old professional dressage rider from Wilmington, MA. Callie began riding at age five and has been a passionate student of dressage since she was eight years old. She is a USDF bronze, silver, and gold medalist with distinction. She is the trainer at Berryfield Dressage in Lincoln, MA, owned by Betsy Dangel. Berryfield Farm is a boutique dressage barn, home to seven high-performance horses.

 

Callie’s goal with every horse is to build a relationship based on trust, allowing each horse to develop at a pace that matches their physical and mental readiness. She lives and trains full-time in Lincoln, MA, and spends winters in Wellington, FL. Prior to this she spent six years as a working student and assistant trainer for Jane Karol at Bear Spot Farm. Callie is proud to train with Christoph Koschel, Jane Karol, and Claire Gallimore.

 

Her most recent accomplishments include winning Reserve Champion at the 2022 U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions, Brentina Cup with Eaton H. She and Iron Lady placed 4th in the Developing Prix St. George, U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions. Callie made her first USA appearance at the 2023 FEI Dressage Nations Cup™ USA CDIOU25 Team (Stars & Stripes) with Eaton H, (with scores of 69.09%, 70.2%, and 75.04%) earning three medals: Team Gold, Individual U25 Grand Prix Gold, and Freestyle Silver. She was invited to participate in the 2023 U25 European Tour. In addition, she is a new member of the Kundrun USEF Dressage Development Program with Eaton H. Callie is now focused on the Open Grand Prix with Eaton H. Her goal is to represent the USA in the future.

 

Callie is a 2021 graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt), where she earned her BFA in fashion design. Her senior thesis, "Pas de Deux” was inspired by her love of dressage and ballet. Callie enjoys working out, boating, and spending time with her family and her dog, Duke.
